Japan, as a nation, prioritized economic growth in the scope of recovering from devastation, and as a result, made high economic achievement. But at the same time, Japan's economic achievement brought to the nation the following two opportunities for the change in its direction; \"pursuit of spiritual richness\" and \"contradiction of high growth\". These two problems has invited a big change in the construction of the Japanese society and highlighted the needs to reconsider many important tasks. What is most important, as Japan tackles these problems, is to add \"humanistic standpoint\" in people's lives, and in order to do so it is necessary to clarify reality of fundamental conscience or values, which frame people's current thinking and desire in the future. This is a collaborative research done by Japan Institute of Life Insurance and Nomura General Research Institute in order to understand the values of Japanese people today as practically and multi-dimensionally as possible, and thus to prepare for the change of Japanese society in the future.\n This survey was conducted by asking 101 questions to people in public and by extracting the structure of the answers using factor analysis, in order to find out Japanese people's values in the subconsciousness. As a result, four values, such as adultism, autism, traditionalism, and individualism, were
