The original EEO Law only imposed a moral duty on employers to endeavor to treat women equally to men, where as the amended law prohibited discriminatory treatment against women in all stages of employment. This survey was conducted by the request of the Ministry of Labor to find out the working situation of women in the career track of an enterprise and how these women view their work life. At the same time, the survey aims to search the situation regarding recruitment and hiring of the students who would prospectively graduate from college in March 2000, and look into whether enterprises have made changes in their recruitment and hiring to abide by the amended EEO
