Through the fundamental measures outlined for an aging society, we endeavor to support the elderly to live safe and independent lives while giving consideration to their diversity.\n\nCurrently, the number of elderly people living alone is increasing due to the nuclearization of families, and a further increase is expected. However, the existing opinion surveys have not been able to grasp the reality and perceptions of the elderly people who live alone.\n\nBy gaining an understanding of the realities and perceptions of elderly people living alone in local areas, this survey aims to contribute to the promotion of relevant policies on issues such as their worries in daily life, their livelihood, health and welfare.\n\nA previous survey was conducted in 1999.\nThe main survey items are (1) survey respondent’s basic attributes, (2) worries/enjoyable things, (3) meals, (4) going out, (5) interactions with others, (6) finances, (7) health/welfare, and (8)
