The 2013 survey is the 49th survey.In this iteration of the survey, in addition to the question items we have traditionally posed regarding lifestyle expenses and consumer behavior, we have also attempted to evaluate the degree of interest in domestic and foreign politics, safety in Japan, and one’s ease of living in Japan.In the 2013 survey, for the first time in seven years, the amount of allowances received by boarding students increased compared to the previous year. Additionally, in response to an increase in student interest in vacation and leisure activities, part-time income salaries increased. Given the recovery of the economy and lower employment rates in recent times, it appears that signs of improvement in the financial lives of students have become apparent. Nevertheless, these changes are still lower than they were before the Lehman shock, and it is clear that equal numbers of students continue to search for jobs, save money, and remain anxious about their ability to secure job
