In fact, besides the large corporations, many smaller companies also engage in overseas expansion.\n\nHowever, there are also concerns that the overseas expansion will lead to the hollowing out of industries and employment since parts of businesses will be conducted overseas. Thus, the Japan Finance Corporation Research Institute conducted this survey in August 2008 to study the effects that overseas expansions have on small to mid-sized businesses with target companies financed by the Japan Finance Corporation\n\nThe following are the primary survey items: (1) effects on small to mid-sized businesses expanding overseas; (2) effects on small to mid-sized businesses while dealing with businesses that are expanding overseas; and (3) effects on small to mid-sized businesses with no direct connection to overseas
