In 1987 we began an annual survey entitled \"Security of Life and Life Insurance\" in order to chronologically follow and identify changes in the ideas about security of life and in the actual state of security preparation as indicated by, for example, the level of life insurance coverage. The survey series lasted for five years, and in 1993 it was carried over to a new survey series entitled \"The Survey on Individual Life and Life Insurance.\" This 1996 survey is the second of the new series, which differs from the original one in having such new areas of investigation as life planning and security of nursing care and in centering on the four security dimensions of medicine, old age, nursing care, and
