In recent years, however, the viability has been threatened by a decreasing number of new starters of small enterprises. To meet the conversely increasing need to study problems of starting a small enterprise and their possible solutions, the Research Institute of National Life Finance Corporation began not only to accumulate data on new start-ups but also to conduct a series of surveys to grasp their current situation by assigning a specific theme to each. This 1993 survey is the 8th one, and its focus is on the manufacturing industry.
