As a consequence, the ability of the family to support and care old parents has weakened to a great extent. In the meantime, despite the sharply increased share of the elderly in the population and the expanding need for welfare services for the elderly, the current massive fiscal deficits are calling for reconsideration of the conventional welfare policy. Thus, how to finance various welfare services for supporting the lives of senior citizens is surfacing as a big social issue. Taking this situation into consideration, this survey aims to explore the possibility of the private sector's advancement into the welfare field and to identify matters of caution for such advancement. For these objectives, the survey investigates people aged between 66 and 64 who live in the Metropolitan area, and studies their consciousness of life after retirement, care problems in the immediate environment, intention for using welfare services, recognition of these services, and opinion of the private sector's entry into the field of
