The reasons for this are: (1) Japanese society is not tolerant of failures; for example, it is common to think that failed managers, including financial institutions, may repeat the same mistakes and (2) that such people will likely have lost most of their assets due to business closure or bankruptcy. However, there is no concrete basis for these points, and the actual situation is not always clear. Therefore, the purpose of this survey was to clarify the actual situation regarding efforts to reopen after business closure and bankruptcy according to managers who have had such experiences in the past, with the overarching goal of ascertaining the actual difficulty of recovery from failure in Japan.
