| 概要 | 今の中学生は権利についてどんな意識をもっているのだろうか。「子どもの権利条約」が日本では1994年に発効したが，未だその内容はあまり知られていないし，反発もあるようである。国連子どもの権利委員会は1998年，日本の現状についてきびしい注文をつけている。 子どもを「権利行使の主体」とみるならば，中学生は自分の権利をどう考え，どう使いたいと思っているのだろうか。ここでは，条約が強調する自己決定権，意見表明権，プライバシーなどを中心に，彼らが考える「権利の侵害」「権利とわがままの境界」「行使したい権利とその意欲」などについて尋ねている。調査対象の中には「子どもの権利条約」の普及に熱心な学校2校も含まれている。 To what extent are today's junior high school students aware of their rights? The Convention on the Rights of the Child came into effect in Japan in 1994, but its contents are still not well known, and there seems to be some opposition to it. In 1998, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child issued a scathing report on the current situation in Japan. If we consider children to be "subjects of the exercise of rights," how do junior high school students think about their rights, and how do they want to use them? This survey asks children what they consider to be an "infringement of [their] rights,” where "the boundary between rights and selfishness" lies, and which "rights they want to exercise and their willingness to exercise them." The survey focuses on the right to self-determination, the right to express one's opinion, and privacy, as emphasized by the Convention. The survey sample included two schools that are dedicated to promoting the Convention on the Rights of the Child. |
