| 概要 | 本調査は，日本で学ぶ私費外国人留学生の標準的な生活の状況を把握するとともに，経済的な実状等を明らかにすることにより，独立行政法人日本学生支援機構が実施する私費外国人留学生に対する各種の支援事業を改善，充実を図るための基礎資料として活用することを目的とした。 In capturing the state of the typical lifestyle of privately-funded international students studying in Japan and elucidating aspects such as their financial state of affairs, the purpose of this study is to act as basic material to be utilized for the improvement of support operations carried out by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) for such students. |

| 母集団 | 日本の大学（大学院を含む。），短期大学，専修学校（専門課程），準備教育機関及び日本語教育機関（以下「大学等」という。）に在籍する私費外国人留学生を対象とし，国費外国人留学生，外国政府が派遣する政府派遣留学生及び在籍期間が1年未満の交換留学生・短期留学生は対象に含まないこととした。 The survey targets privately-funded international students enrolled in Japanese universities (including graduate schools), junior colleges, specialized training colleges (professional courses), preparatory institutions, and Japanese language education institutions (hereinafter, "universities, etc."). It does not include publicly funded international students, international students dispatched by foreign governments, exchange students, or short-term international students with an enrollment period of less than one year. |

| 回収率 | 私費外国人留学生の中から無作為抽出により，7,000人（国立大学68校1,074人，公立大学15校136人，私立大学217校2,633人，短期大学20校59人，専修学校（専門課程）95校1,182人，準備教育課程9校85人，日本語教育機関144校1,831人）に対してアンケートを送付し，6,036人から有効回答を得た。回答率は86.2%であった。 Random sampling of privately financed international students led to questionnaires being sent to 7,000 individuals (1,074 individuals from 68 national universities, 136 individuals from 15 municipal universities, 2,633 individuals from 217 private universities, 59 individuals from 20 junior colleges, 1,182 individuals from 95 specialized training colleges (professional courses), 85 individuals from 9 preparatory courses, and 1,831 individuals from 144 Japanese language education institutions), with responses obtained from 6,036 individuals. The response rate was 86.2%. |
