| 概要 | 1990代後半以降，携帯電話やパソコンといった，いわゆる「ICTメディア」（ICTはInformation and Communication Technologyの略）は急速な発達・普及を遂げ，今や生活するうえで欠かせないものになっている。これに連動して，子どもの世界にもICTメディアは急激に浸透しつつあり，その影響については社会的にも大きな関心事になっている。こうした社会状況を背景として，Benesse教育研究開発センターでは，小学4年生から高校2年生までの子どもたちを対象に，ICTメディアの利用の実態と意識をとらえることを目的に調査を実施した。 本調査の特徴は以下のとおりである。 1.子どもたちのICTメディアの利用の意識と実態を幅広く捉えることができる 携帯電話やパソコンなどのICTメディアについて，利用率や利用内容といった基本的な実態をとらえるとともに，子どもたち自身の意識を把握することができる。また，調査設計においては，コミュニケーションと学習という2つの観点を軸にするとともに，メディアの使い分けといった観点からも実態や意識を把握できるようにしている。 2.発達段階における違いをとらえることができる 小学4年生から高校2年生までの8学年をとおして，できる限り同じ項目を設定して調査を行っており，利用の実態や意識が，成長・発達にともなってどのように異なっているのかを把握することができる。 Since the late 1990s, the so-called “ICT media” (“ICT” being an abbreviation for Information and Communication Technology), such as mobile phones and personal computers, have developed and spread rapidly to assume an essential position in our lifestyles. Simultaneously with this, ICT media are rapidly infiltrating into children’s worlds as well, and the effects have attracted great interest from society. Against these social circumstances, the Benesse Educational Research & Development Institute has conducted a survey of children from fourth grade in elementary school to second year in high school, with the aim of grasping the state of and attitudes to ICT media use. The characteristics of this survey are as follows. 1. Allows broad capture of attitudes toward and facts about children’s ICT media use The survey allows the capture of basic facts about the usage rate and nature of usage of ICT media, such as mobile phones and personal computers and also enables information to be gathered about children’s own attitudes. Moreover, the survey has been designed on the basis of the perspectives of communication and learning, to allow information to be gathered on actual state and attitudes from the additional perspective of differentiation of media use. 2. Allows the capture of differences in developmental stages The survey has been conducted with the same items wherever possible over eight years from fourth grade in elementary school to second year in high school, enabling appreciation of how usage reality and attitudes differ in conjunction with growth and development. |
